Industry Hills Golf Course and the Pacific Palms
Resort was the host of the 1st annual Alex Thomas Celebrity Golf Classic benefiting the City of
Hope Cancer Center on July 16, 2010.
Actor/Comedian Alex Thomas established a foundation in 2009 to raise funds
for pediatric cancer research and provide year-round support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living
with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. According to Thomas, pediatric cancer has touched his
family and that convinced him to join the fight.
A host of entertainers
and athletes weathered sweltering conditions in Industry Hills to participate in the golf event and to help out charity.
The format was a four person Shamble where each competitor tees off on every hole, the best drive of the foursome is selected,
and each player plays his/her own ball from the selected shot until the ball is holed out.
